Rudas is open every day from 06:00, until 20:00 on most days and until 22:00 on Mondays. What complicates it is the Turkish bath, which keeps its own men-only, women-only and mixed sessions, and the sauna world, which opens two hours after everything else.

Rudas men’s days and women’s days
Only the Turkish bath, the Ottoman hall with its six thermal pools and steam rooms, is ever single-sex. The wellness pools, the sauna world, the swimming pool and the rooftop pool are mixed every day, so a mixed group always has somewhere to be together.
The Turkish bath, day by day:
- Monday: men only 06:00 to 10:45, then mixed 11:00 to 22:00
- Tuesday: women only all day, 06:00 to 20:00
- Wednesday: men only all day, 06:00 to 20:00
- Thursday and Friday: men only 06:00 to 10:45, then mixed 11:00 to 20:00
- Saturday and Sunday: mixed all day, 06:00 to 20:00
The mixed sessions are in swimwear. On the men’s and women’s sessions the house rules make two aprons compulsory, covering the front and the back, and aprons are not allowed in the lobby. With the apron sessions the bath gives one reusable bath sheet free with every ticket, to hand back when you leave.
The full women’s day on Tuesday and men’s day on Wednesday date from 18 November 2025, a compromise with the bath’s regulars after Gellért closed and brought in more visitors who wanted mixed bathing. In past years the bath has made the Turkish bath mixed every day over Christmas and New Year, so check the timetable for your dates.
For a couple or a mixed group who want the Turkish bath together, that means Monday, Thursday or Friday after 11:00, or the weekend. On Tuesday and Wednesday, one of you gets the Turkish bath and you meet in the wellness section.
Night bathing at Rudas
Every Friday and Saturday night from 22:00 to 03:00 the bath runs night bathing, sold as Night above the city. It is mixed, with no men’s or women’s sessions. The Turkish bath, the swimming pool, the wellness pools and the rooftop panorama pool are open, and there is a cocktail bar on the roof.
The sauna world and the massages are not. The two ends of the building suit different evenings: the rooftop pool for the night view and a quiet soak, the swimming pool for music and inflatable rings.
- Tickets are sold only online, one for each night, and a day ticket does not cover it
- The bath closes at 20:00 on Friday and Saturday and reopens for the night session at 22:00
- Slippers are compulsory, as by day, and nobody under 14 is admitted

Best times to visit Rudas
Time of day
Before noon. The queue at the desk builds from about midday, and the rooftop pool, which holds 16 people, is full for most of the afternoon. At weekends the 06:00 opening is the one time the rooftop is close to empty.
Monday evening is the other good slot, with the bath open until 22:00 and the Turkish bath mixed from 11:00.
Day of the week
Monday to Thursday, when the bath’s own prices are lowest. Pick the day by the Turkish bath: Monday or Thursday afternoon for a mixed visit, Tuesday for women only, Wednesday for men only. Saturday afternoon is the busiest time of the week.
Season
The bath runs the same hours all year. The rooftop pool is at its best on a cold, clear morning, when the water is 36°C and the air is not. In summer heat, 36°C water in full sun on the roof is more than most people want, and the swimming pool comes into its own.
How long to spend at Rudas
The bath recommends 20 minutes at a time in the thermal pools, so a visit runs in rounds of hot water, cold water and a rest.
