Your City Budapest is an independent guide to Budapest, for people coming to visit and for people who have just moved here. It is not the city’s tourist office, and no attraction, bath or tour company owns it or has a say in what it says.
What you’ll find on the site
Every major sight has its own set of pages: which ticket to buy, the tours worth taking, the opening hours, how to get there and the history. Around them sit the round-ups (the thermal baths, the ruin bars, free things to do, the Christmas markets), itineraries for anything from one day to a week, what’s on this week and in every month of the year, how to get around, and which city pass pays for itself.
Why it’s worth reading before you go
Opening hours, closures and the rules at the door come from each place’s own website, and what a ticket includes comes from the page you book it on, so what you read here is what you find when you get there.
Where there is more than one way in, we say which ticket suits whom, and what catches people out. You can only see inside the Parliament on a tour booked for a fixed time, and the slots sell out days ahead. Tram 2 is the river cruise you can ride on an ordinary transport ticket, as long as you sit on the river side. That is the kind of thing every page is built to tell you.
How the site is paid for
The site is free to read. When you book a ticket, tour or pass through one of our links, the company selling it pays us a commission, and you pay the same price. The details are in our legal notice.
