Puskás Aréna Tours

There are two ways inside Puskás Aréna on a day when nothing is on. The museum’s own Arena Tour leaves from the Puskás Museum three times a day and is sold at the museum desk, on the day, with no online booking. The Football Lover Tour is a five-hour day with a local guide that goes inside this stadium, its museum and Ferencváros’s Groupama Aréna, and it is the one you can book ahead.

If you are here for the stadium, the Arena Tour is the direct way in. If you want the Golden Team’s story across the city, take the day tour. This page compares the two, then covers the museum’s own tickets and how to get a seat at a match or a concert, which only the organiser of each event sells.

Puskás Aréna tour

The one Puskás Aréna tour sold online is the Football Lover Tour below. The Arena Tour and the museum are sold only at the museum desk; see Puskás Aréna tickets further down.

Types of tour

The Arena Tour, from the Puskás Museum

The stadium’s own tour, run by the museum. Three leave a day, at 11:00, 13:30 and 15:00, with no more than 25 people on each, and the museum describes the route in one line: behind the scenes, out onto the stands, down to the players’ exit, and into the areas that are closed when a match or a concert is on.

You buy it at the museum box office on the day, on its own or as the Combined ticket with the museum. The museum publishes neither the tour’s length nor the language the guide works in, so ask when you buy.

It is the better pick if the stadium is the reason you came. Take the 11:00 tour and you have the afternoon for City Park, and check the museum’s news page the day before, because the tours stop for every event.

The Football Lover Tour, five hours across the city

A guided day on Hungarian football, travelled by tram, metro and bus with the tickets included. It starts at Groupama Aréna, Ferencváros’s stadium, with an hour inside the ground and the Fradi Museum, passes the Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium, then spends about an hour and a half inside Puskás Aréna and the Puskás Museum.

From there it heads into town by Heroes’ Square, Oktogon and Margaret Bridge, with the story of the Golden Team and its players along the way, and ends at a statue of Ferenc Puskás, where the guide sings Hungarian folk songs and shows a few dance steps.

It runs Tuesday to Friday only, in English. It is a new listing with no reviews yet, and the stadium visits depend on the event calendar, so book well ahead of the day.

Puskás Aréna tickets

Nothing at Puskás Aréna is sold the way a museum ticket usually is. The museum sells four tickets of its own at its desk, on the day, with no online sale, and a seat at a match or a concert comes only from the organiser of that event, in advance. Neither partner we work with sells any of those.

Puskás Museum

Entry to the museum in the Tower, the last piece of the 1953 Népstadion, on a museum-only ticket. A free audioguide in English and Italian plays on your own phone, so bring headphones.

  • Adult, reduced (ages 3 to 18 and over-65s) and free under 3
  • Guided museum tours at 12:00 and 13:30 are an extra charge on top
  • Bags larger than A4, umbrellas and every backpack go in the free cloakroom

Best for football history, and for families with children too young for a stadium walk.

Museum + Arena Insight

A museum ticket that also lets you out onto the stands after your visit, during museum hours. The museum says it plainly: this is not a full arena tour, and you see only as much of the stadium as you would at a match.

Pick it if you want one photograph of the bowl and no more. For the players’ exit and the closed areas, you need the Arena Tour or the Combined ticket.

Arena Tour and Combined ticket

The Arena Tour is sold on its own, or with the museum as the Combined ticket, with the tour at 11:00, 13:30 or 15:00. Allow about 2 hours for the two together. The Combined ticket is the one for a first visit by anyone who follows the game.

  • Sold at the museum box office, on the day, in adult and reduced rates
  • Gift cards exist for the Combined ticket and for Museum + Arena Insight, valid for the holder to pick a date

Match and concert tickets

The stadium only provides the venue. Every event is sold by its organiser through the organiser’s official partners, in advance, and there is no ticket office at the stadium on the day.

  • Hungary’s home games are sold by the Hungarian Football Federation, MLSZ, on its own ticket site, with a printed or mobile ticket that is scanned at the gate. Sales open on an announced date, and the federation’s supporters’ club members get first pick
  • Concerts are sold by the promoter of each show
  • UEFA finals are sold by UEFA
  • Disabled supporters at Hungary’s matches have a separate MLSZ ticket channel; at other events, wheelchair users and a companion need the ticket the organiser designates

Never buy from a resale site. Your ticket is single entry and keeps you in the sector printed on it.

How to choose

The stadium, or football in Budapest

The Arena Tour is about this building: the stands, the players’ exit and the parts shut on a match day, with the museum next door if you buy the Combined ticket. The Football Lover Tour gives Puskás Aréna an hour and a half inside a five-hour day that also takes in Ferencváros’s ground and museum and a run through the city centre. Pick the day tour only if the rest of the route appeals as well.

Which day and which time

The Arena Tour runs every day at 11:00, 13:30 and 15:00, and the 11:00 tour leaves the rest of the day free. The Football Lover Tour runs Tuesday to Friday only, starting at 12:55, so it takes your afternoon. Neither runs inside the stadium around a match or a concert, including the preparation days before one.

Who you are going with

Under-14s must be with an adult in the museum. The museum’s reduced rate covers ages 3 to 18 and over-65s, and the Football Lover Tour has a child rate for 17 and under. The Football Lover Tour is listed as not suitable for wheelchair users. Whether the Arena Tour route is step-free is not published, so ask at the museum desk.

How to book

  1. Check the museum’s news page

The Arena Tour and Arena Insight stop around every match and concert, and the museum posts the dates ahead. Look the day before you go, and before you book the Football Lover Tour for a date near an event.

  2. For the Football Lover Tour, book online

Book at least 10 hours ahead, choosing the small-group or private option. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the start. The meeting point for your option comes with the booking.

  3. For the Arena Tour, go to the museum desk

Come in through Gate X from Stefánia út or Gate V from Dózsa György út and follow the museum signs. The desk sells tickets from 10:00 until 17:00. Ask for the Arena Tour or the Combined ticket and say which tour time you want.

  4. Leave the backpack at the cloakroom

It is free and compulsory for every backpack, for umbrellas and for bags larger than A4. Then join your tour or start on the museum floors.

Before you go

  • Under-14s must be with an adult, in the museum and at every event
  • The museum turns away anyone drunk, in swimwear, bare-chested or barefoot
  • Bag searches: museum staff may check what is in your bag, and at events the organiser sets the bag rule for that day. Read the ticket
  • At events: no umbrellas, no alcohol, no drink containers from outside, no knife with a blade over 5 cm. Everything inside is cashless, by contactless bank card or the stadium’s HelloPay card
  • Photos are fine in the museum, and personal photos and video are fine at events
  • See our opening hours guide for the closures and our how to get there guide for the gates and the event-day transport

Frequently asked questions

Can I book the Puskás Aréna stadium tour online?

Not the museum’s own Arena Tour. It is sold at the Puskás Museum box office only, on the day, for the 11:00, 13:30 or 15:00 tour. The one visit inside the stadium you can book ahead online is the five-hour Football Lover Tour, which runs Tuesday to Friday and includes the stadium and the museum.

How long is the Arena Tour?

The museum does not publish a length for the tour on its own. It sells the tour and the museum together as the Combined ticket, and we would allow about 2 hours for the two. On the Football Lover Tour, the listing gives an hour and a half at Puskás Aréna and the museum.

What is the difference between the Arena Tour and Arena Insight?

The Arena Tour is a guided walk behind the scenes, in a group of up to 25. The Museum + Arena Insight ticket is a museum ticket that also lets you out onto the stands, and the museum’s own wording is that it is not a full arena tour: you see only as much as you would at a match.

What language is the Arena Tour in?

The museum does not publish it, so ask at the desk when you buy. The museum’s free audioguide is in English and Italian, and the Football Lover Tour is guided in English.

Do the tours run on match days?

No. The Arena Tour and Arena Insight stop for every match and concert and the days of preparation around them, sometimes for weeks, and the museum posts the dates on its news page. The Football Lover Tour’s visits inside the stadium and the museum depend on the same calendar.

Are there discounts for children or seniors?

Yes. The museum has a reduced rate for ages 3 to 18 and for over-65s on every ticket type, and under-3s go in free. The Football Lover Tour has an adult rate from 18 and a child rate for 17 and under.

How do I get tickets for a match or a concert?

From the organiser, in advance. Hungary’s home games are sold by the football federation, MLSZ, on its own ticket site, and concerts by their promoter. Nothing is sold at the stadium on the day, so never buy from a resale site.
