There is no walk-in entry to the Hungarian Parliament. Every visitor goes in on a timed 45-minute tour, so a Parliament ticket and a Parliament tour are the same thing, and slots sell out ahead in any season.
Two products get you in. The entry ticket gives you the 45-minute route through the building with an audio guide, in about an hour. The guided city tour spends a morning on the Castle District, Gellért Hill and City Park with a live guide, then finishes with a guided tour of the Parliament.
Inside the building the route is the same for everyone: the Grand Staircase, the Dome Hall with the Holy Crown, the Upper House lounge and the Old Upper House Chamber. What differs is who is talking to you, how long the day is, and what you can cancel.

Types of tour
Parliament entry ticket and audio guide
You start with a downloadable audio tour of Kossuth Square: the Rákóczi statue, the National Unity Monument and the memorials around the building. Then you go into the Visitor Centre with your entry ticket, pass security, and are handed an audio guide device for the 45-minute route. Afterwards you can visit the History of the House exhibition.

How to choose
Consider your time
On a two-night city break, the guided tour packs the Castle District, the Gellért Hill view and the Parliament into one morning and removes the planning. With four days or more, the entry ticket leaves you free to see the Castle at your own pace on another day.
Live guide or audio guide
The audio guide covers 26 languages and lets you listen at your own volume while the group moves. A live guide can answer questions, but only in English, German or Spanish. If your first language is none of those, the audio guide is the better visit.
How firm your plans are
The entry ticket can be cancelled free up to 24 hours ahead. The guided tour cannot be cancelled or moved at all. If a flight, the weather or a change of heart could shift your day, that settles it.
EU or non-EU option
- The entry ticket is sold as two options, EU citizens and non-EU citizens, because the Parliament charges the two groups different rates. Pick the one that matches the passport you will carry
- The Parliament defines the cheaper group as citizens of the EU plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, and checks a physical passport or national ID card at the door. UK citizens book the non-EU option
- Book the wrong option and you can be refused entry at the door
- Children aged 5 and younger have their own category on the entry ticket; everyone from 6 up books as an adult
- Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult inside the building

Insider tips
Do the square first
The entry ticket’s audio tour of Kossuth Square is easy to skip and worth 20 minutes. Arrive early, walk it, and you reach the Visitor Centre already knowing what the statues and memorials outside are about.
Don’t book anything straight after
Leaving the building takes longer than you expect, and a sitting or state event can push a slot back. Leave at least 90 minutes before your next booking.
