There is no walk-in entry to the Hungarian Parliament. Every visitor goes in on a 45-minute tour booked for a fixed time, and slots sell out ahead. When we checked in mid-September, well outside peak season, the whole of the next day was already gone.
Two tickets get you inside: an entry ticket with an audio guide, and a half-day guided city tour that ends in the building. This page covers what each one includes, who can book the cheaper EU option, and the terms you are buying under.

Ticket types
Parliament entry ticket and audio guide
The simplest way in and the one most visitors book. It includes the Parliament entry ticket, 15 minutes for check-in and the 45-minute tour of the building, about an hour in all. After security you are handed an audio guide device, with 26 languages to choose from. There is no live guide on this ticket.

EU and non-EU options, and children
- The entry ticket is sold as two options, EU citizens and non-EU citizens, because the Parliament charges the two groups different rates. Pick the one that matches the passport you will carry
- The Parliament defines the cheaper group as citizens of the EU plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, and checks a physical passport or national ID card at the door. UK citizens book the non-EU option
- Book the wrong option and you can be refused entry at the door
- Children aged 5 and younger have their own category on the entry ticket; everyone from 6 up books as an adult
- Under-14s must be accompanied by an adult inside the building
Castle District and Parliament guided tour with transport
A four-and-a-half-hour guided tour of the city that finishes with a guided tour of the Parliament. It includes transport by air-conditioned vehicle, a professional licensed guide and admission to the Parliament. The route covers the Castle District, a drive up Gellért Hill for the view over the city, and City Park, before the Parliament.

Where to buy
Online: the entry ticket with audio guide or the guided city tour. Both arrive as a phone ticket.
On the day: the Parliament’s own Visitor Centre, at the north end of Kossuth tér, sells a limited number of same-day tickets. With slots selling out ahead it is a fallback rather than a plan.
Before you go
These are the Parliament’s own rules, and they apply whichever ticket you hold.
- ID: bring the physical passport or ID card that matches the option you booked.
- Security: everyone passes an airport-style check. Large bags and packages are not allowed in. The only drink permitted is up to half a litre of a clear soft drink in an unbreakable plastic bottle; liquid medicine and baby food are fine.
- Toilets: only outside the Visitor Centre, so go before you enter.
- Photography: cameras and video are allowed in the building, but banned at the security check and in the Dome Hall, to protect the Holy Crown.
- Short-notice closures: the Parliament can pause visits for sittings and state events, sometimes minutes before entry. Check the official visitor pages on the morning of your slot.
- Conduct: smart-casual dress, no flags or banners, no food, drink or smoking, and no sitting on the stairs or floor.
