UH Fest: experimental music across eight venues

About the event
UH Fest has presented adventurous modern music in Budapest since 2001, and is back after a break in 2025. It is run by the Ultrasound Foundation, a grassroots non-profit that works only with volunteers. The curators ignore genre on purpose, putting the cerebral next to the visceral, so expect to hear something you would never have looked for.
The opening night at Trafó starts with Viktor Lois, a figure of the Hungarian avant-garde since the 1970s, playing one of his sound sculptures, and ends with Leila Bordreuil's cello noise. On the Sunday afternoon, Heinali and Andriana-Yaroslava Saienko reimagine Hildegard von Bingen in a Buda church. The programme is on the festival site in English.
