The Angolan singer who made Sodade famous, years before Cesária Évora recorded her own version. He is in his eighties and plays live less and less.
About the event
Bonga was born in Angola, lives in Portugal and was one of the first big names in world music. He developed his own take on Angolan semba, with room in it for Portuguese fado, Cape Verdean morna and coladeira, and Afro-Cuban rhythms. Müpa is producing this concert itself.
He sings and plays congas and the dikanza, a scraped percussion instrument, backed by guitar, bass guitar, accordion and drums. Expect a playful, raspy voice and songs built on storytelling. The concert runs for about an hour and 45 minutes in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall. Tickets use dynamic pricing, and ticket holders park for free.
