Spike and the Gimme Gimmes on the A38
Sunday 29 November
The punk covers supergroup once known as Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, turning other people's songs into fast punk anthems. A loud way to spend a Sunday evening.
About the event
Spike Slawson fronts a band of veterans: John Reis of Rocket from the Crypt, Joey Cape of Lagwagon, Pinch of The Damned and CJ Ramone of the Ramones, with guests such as Jay Bentley of Bad Religion or Jake Kiley of Strung Out stepping in when duty calls. Together since 1995 and twelve albums in, they have worked their way through Motown, country, show tunes and Japanese-language pop, and very little survives the treatment unaltered. They played Dürer Kert last year, took to the Budapest crowd, and this time they are doing it on the water.
