My heart is crying inside: grief works

A group show about mourning, and about how completely late capitalist society has pushed death out of ordinary life. Flóra Gadó has gathered a dozen artists on private loss, on care for the dying, and on the rituals communities have lost or rebuilt.
About the event
The show treats grief as something that goes on and changes you rather than something to be finished with, and it takes seriously the taboo that marks grieving people out as less productive. Alongside private loss and coping, the works look at care for the dying and the dead, at the medicalisation of dying, at how religious functions have shifted, and at spiritualism and ties to ancestors. Several pieces deal with genocides and other tragedies where mourning is made impossible. Tickets can be bought online before you go. It ends on something practical: open talk, overwritten expectations, and communities that offer care.
