Souls/Alive: drawings by children with cancer

Drawings by 195 children from Hungary and Hungarian communities across the Carpathian Basin, all of them living with cancer. They were not asked to draw the illness. They were asked to draw whatever mattered to them.
About the event
Writer and curator Rea Todorovits invited the children to draw their own realities, and what came back covers hospital beds and footballs, falling hair and falling in love, fear and family, God, music, animals, home, friends, the sky and chocolate. The artists are of different ages, from different places and with different diagnoses, and every one of them has been through treatment. Each work carries a label with the child's age and home town, and the hang asks you to look at the drawing before you read it. It is on the museum's second floor, and the children are shown as makers rather than as patients.
