Savina Yannatou: Watersong
Sunday 29 November

Greek song and the wider Mediterranean repertoire, reworked by a singer who has covered everything from medieval song to improvisation. Yannatou brings her band Primavera en Salonico and the album that gives the concert its name.
About the event
Müpa is producing the concert. Yannatou started out in progressive electronic music, with several albums alongside Lena Platonos, and has been one of Greece's most significant singers since the early 1980s. She founded Primavera en Salonico in the mid-1990s to put Greek traditional material through her own sound, and the group's albums have long been released on ECM, including Watersong in 2025. The band plays qanun, accordion, ney, violin, oud, double bass and percussion, and the Tunisian singer Lamia Bedioui joins them. Yannatou last sang on the Festival Theatre stage in 2006. It runs about two hours.
