Puskin 100 film festival

The Puskin opened in November 1926 and marks its first hundred years with one unusual screening a week: rarely shown classics, silent films with live music, talks and newsreels.
About the event
Fritz Lang's Metropolis opened the run with a newly composed score by Balázs Zságer, and Chaplin's The Gold Rush closes it with live accompaniment. In between come Hyppolit the Butler, Bicycle Thieves, In the Mood for Love, Once Upon a Time in America, a 35mm print of Párbaj and morning shows of Hungarian children's films. The Thief of Bagdad, the silent Hollywood adventure shown to invited guests at the cinema's opening gala, returns a century to the day. The foreign titles carry Hungarian subtitles, and the cinema lists the two live-music screenings as having no dialogue at all, so they ask least of your Hungarian.
