Haydn's Creation at Müpa's New Year's concert
Friday 1 January

Müpa's traditional New Year's concert, conducted as always by Ádám Fischer: this time Haydn's oratorio The Creation, with the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Philharmonic and the Hungarian Radio Choir.
About the event
Fischer founded the orchestra in 1987, so this concert falls in its fortieth anniversary year. The soloists are two Germans, the soprano Katharina Konradi and the tenor Daniel Behle, and the Hungarian bass Gábor Bretz, Müpa's Artist of the Season. Máté Szabó Sipos prepares the choir. The oratorio tells the story of the six days of creation, from the heavens and the earth to the sun, the moon and the stars, plants, animals and people, and Haydn paints each of them in sound, often with a wink. Müpa produces the concert itself, every ticket holder gets a glass of Sauska sparkling wine, and a ticket also gets you free parking at Müpa on the day.
