Macskafogó, or Cat City, at the Bem Mozi

Béla Ternovszky's 1986 animated caper, a mouse secret service against the cats of Planet X. The Bem lists this screening with English subtitles, which is what makes it watchable if you have no Hungarian.

About the event

On Planet X the cats have stopped bothering with the law and set about wiping out mouse society altogether. The mice look finished until their chief scientist works out an answer, and the secret service sends its best agent, Grabovszky, to get the plans where they are needed in time. It is a Hungarian, Canadian and West German co-production, directed by Ternovszky, and it runs 96 minutes in colour. The cinema does not recommend it for anyone under twelve, so treat it as a cartoon for older children and adults rather than a family matinee. There is one screening, booked on the Bem's own page.
