Macskafogó 40, the film with live music
5 to 6 December

The Hungarian animated caper Macskafogó, or Cat City, turns forty, and Müpa screens it with the score played live. Shown in the original Hungarian without subtitles, so it suits anyone who already knows the film or is happy to follow the pictures.
About the event
Béla Ternovszky and József Nepp made Macskafogó, and its lines and characters are woven into everyday speech in Hungary. Ábel Tompa is artistic director and conductor, the brass section of the Central Jazz Collective supplies the film noir colour, and the a cappella group Jazzation, with Sára Bolyki, Barnabás Bolyki, Máté Homor, Gina Kanizsa and Katus Várallyay, sing the eighties music. Müpa produces it and adds a photo exhibition and photo opportunities through the day. Each screening runs about an hour and three quarters.
