Hungarian Radio, the public broadcaster MTVA and the Liszt Academy have put this concert on together on the evening of New Year's Day for several years now, and what started as an initiative has become a tradition. Past conductors include Tamás Vásáry, János Kovács, Ádám Medveczky and Oliver von Dohnányi. Alongside the Beethoven orchestral pieces, this year's programme has his Tremate, empi, tremate, excerpts from György Orbán's Rasumoffsky Trilogy and Máté Bella's Celestial Pathways, with the Academy's voice, violin and jazz students taking part.
