Bartók competition winner at the Liszt Academy

Jeonghwan Kim, winner of last year’s Bartók World Competition, plays a solo piano recital that opens and closes with Bartók, with Ravel, Scriabin and Ligeti in between.
About the event
Born in Seoul, Kim moved to Berlin at 11 and began studying at the Hanns Eisler University of Music there in 2017. Besides the Bartók World Competition, he has won first prizes at the Sydney, Berlin Mendelssohn and Aarhus international piano competitions.
The first half pairs Bartók's Dance Suite with Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin. After the interval come Scriabin's Third Sonata, three of Ligeti's études (Fanfares, Arc-en-ciel and Automne à Varsovie) and Bartók's Sonata to finish. The evening lasts about two hours including the interval, and tickets are sold online through the Liszt Academy.
