Hungarian National Dance Ensemble: Requiem for Mohács
2 to 3 December

A new dance piece on the battle of Mohács, premiered by the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble as the defeat approaches its five hundredth anniversary. Two performances in Müpa's Festival Theatre.
About the event
Zoltán Zsuráfszky and Zsuzsa Zs. Vincze direct and choreograph the world premiere, which they call a historical dance vision and which does more than commemorate. The argument running through it is that Hungarian culture held firm even through the country's worst traumas, and that the past stops being a distant lesson once it is expressed in movement. Benjámin Eredics wrote the music, Kázmér Tóth designed the set, Vincze the costumes and János Madarász the visual design, and the dancers are members of the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble. Müpa produces it, and each performance runs about two hours.
