Friday organ concerts with trumpet and soprano at St Stephen's Basilica
6 to 27 November

Four Fridays running, an hour each, with two organists at the basilica's two instruments and a soprano and a trumpeter beside them.
About the event
Charpentier's Te Deum opens with the trumpet to the fore, the great organ takes Bach's Toccata, Air and Fugue in D minor, and the Toccata from Widor's fifth organ symphony ends the night. Between them sit three settings of Ave Maria, by Caccini, Gounod and Mascagni, Albinoni's Adagio, Franck's Panis angelicus and Purcell's Trumpet Voluntary, with Handel's Water Music arranged for trumpet and organ. Gábor Szotyori Nagy takes the great organ on three of the four Fridays, with Ádám Tabajdi at the altar instrument and Lívia Scheer singing; on the third Friday András Virágh and Zsuzsanna Kapi step in. László Borsódy plays the trumpet throughout, and the last night swaps Liszt's crusaders' march for his Hosannah.
