Fecskehajtó: a new folk festival at the Budai Vigadó

A new two-day festival celebrating three birthdays at once: the Hagyományok Háza at 25, the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble at 75 and the Budai Vigadó at 125. Folk concerts, dance, a parade and a light show on the building, and most of it is free.
About the event
Hagyományok Háza's new festival mixes folk tradition with contemporary performance, around the themes of the end of summer, the harvest and the swallows leaving. There is a folk craft fair on Corvin tér and Szilágyi Dezső tér, and each evening the State Folk Ensemble performs outdoors before the Budai Vigadó is lit up with projection mapping.
On the Saturday a musical procession sets off along Fő utca at 18:00, and the storytelling tent has storytellers in English in the early afternoon. Families get craft workshops, a giant puzzle and a treasure hunt. Workshops and some performances, including the Naplegenda dance show on Saturday evening, are ticketed through Hagyományok Háza.
