Fauré's Requiem with Le Concert Spirituel
Sunday 1 November

All Saints' Day in the big hall, given over to French sacred music. Hervé Niquet brings his historically informed ensemble Le Concert Spirituel, and the Hungarian soprano Emőke Baráth sings Fauré's Requiem with them.
About the event
Müpa is producing the concert as part of its All Saints' Day programme. The Requiem fills the second half. Before the interval comes the Clovis Mass, written by Gounod late in his life, with four shorter pieces from the French church tradition set between its movements, one each by Alexandre Guilmant, Louis Aubert, Camille Saint-Saëns and Théodore Dubois. This spiritual repertoire is the natural home of Niquet and his players. The French baritone Jean-Christophe Lanièce is the other soloist, and Baráth sang on a 2024 recording of most of the same programme. The evening runs about two and a half hours with one interval.
