Danubia Orchestra: Vive la France
Friday 11 December

Máté Hámori takes the Danubia Orchestra through French music in single movements and short pieces, from Rameau to Ravel and Bizet, and ends with the singer Myrtill Micheller.
About the event
The Danubia Orchestra presents the concert, with Hámori conducting. The first half picks out highlights: Les sauvages from Rameau's Suite in G major, the fairy garden from Ravel's Mother Goose, the ball from Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique, Debussy's Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune and the scherzo from Saint-Saëns's Organ Symphony. After the interval come Dukas's The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Fauré's Pavane and the Carillon from Bizet's first Arlésienne suite, before Micheller sings Rezső Ott's Chanson du Coeur, a medley of French chanson and cabaret. It runs about two and a half hours with one interval.
