Backstage Budapest: a tour of the A38
Saturday 17 October

A daytime walk through the A38, the parts the public sees and the parts it does not: the original ship fittings, the concert hall built around its own acoustics, the backstage made out of the old engine room, the stern and the studios.
About the event
Imagine Budapest runs the walk. The thousand tonne barge that is now the A38 once carried iron ore and reached Budapest on an adventurous journey, and it has been moored at the foot of Petőfi Bridge for more than twenty years. Guides explain why a ship that never sails still needs a sailor, an anchor winch and a lifeboat, and talk through its groundbreaking technical solutions, the acts that have played, the battle to win the trust of the international music business and the chaotic opening. Every walk finishes in the A38 Bistro with a small tasting ordered at the table, and the tours marked with lunch swap that for a three course menu.
