Ábrahám Consort Advent concert at the Liszt Academy
Saturday 5 December

The Ábrahám Consort and its concertmaster, the violinist Márta Ábrahám, play music for Advent and Christmas from the first half of the eighteenth century, and the alto Atala Schöck sings two arias from Bach's Christmas Oratorio.
About the event
The Liszt Academy presents the evening in its Grand Hall. It opens and closes in G minor: first Corelli's Concerto Grosso Op. 6 No. 8, inscribed Fatto per la notte di Natale because he wrote it for Christmas Eve, and last Handel's Concerto Grosso Op. 6 No. 6. Each half has a solo concerto for Ábrahám, who teaches at the Academy: Bach's Violin Concerto in E major before the interval, and Winter from Vivaldi's Four Seasons after it. Schöck's arias are Bereite dich, Zion and Schließe, mein Herze, dies selige Wunder. György Schweigert is the consort's artistic director. Allow about two and a half hours.
