Walk This Way: the art of walking

An international group show that takes walking seriously as an art form, tracing it from the Dada excursion of 1921 to land art, performance and activism. Two of the December guided tours are in English.
About the event
József Készman and Zsófia Máté have gathered about thirty artists, among them Francis Alÿs, Valie Export, Hamish Fulton, Mona Hatoum, Christina Kubisch, Bruce Nauman, Yoko Ono and Tsai Ming-liang, with Dóra Maurer, Tibor Hajas, György Galántai and Endre Koronczi on the Hungarian side. The thread runs from the Surrealists' aimless wandering and the Lettrists' dérive through Fluxus and land art to pieces where walking becomes mapping, resistance or outright protest. Alongside the works, the museum runs guided tours on alternate Sundays, in Hungarian at 16:00 and in English an hour later. The Ludwig has put it together with Müpa Budapest as part of the Liszt Fest.
