Verdi's Requiem at the Opera House
2 to 7 November

Verdi's Requiem lifted off the music stands and staged: Ádám Tulassay's production moves it into a sombre city of today and makes it about how a city dweller lives with death. Sung in Latin, with surtitles in English.
About the event
Oratorios are often performed staged or semi-staged now, and this one is half-seriously called many people's favourite opera. Gergely Kesselyák conducts the Opera's own orchestra and chorus, with Csilla Boross, Atala Schöck, István Kovácsházi and Krisztián Cser singing and two dancers, Judit Adler and Eszter Lovisek. Angéla Csúcs designed the sets, Krisztina Lisztopád the costumes, Márton Csuzi the choreography and Zsombor Czeglédi the animation. Surtitles also run in Hungarian and Latin. There is one interval, after the Dies irae. Strong flashing lights run throughout, and it is not recommended for children under 14.
