Edit Szalma: Képjegyzetek

Edit Szalma draws for books and poems, and this free show in the KMO’s foyer gallery hangs the results as art in their own right rather than as illustrations.

About the event

Szalma is a graphic artist and illustrator, and most of her drawings start from something written: a book, a poem, a piece of prose. What she makes is never a picture of the words. The drawings answer the writing with quiet, with a gesture, with one detail given more weight than the rest, and they hold their own once the text is taken away. Their subject is human sensitivity. The Előtér Galéria is the foyer of the Kispest culture centre and library, so the work sits where people come and go through the building.
