Napfivér: three painters in the Mária Magdolna tower
8 October to 9 November

Three painters hang new work inside the medieval bell tower that is all that survives of the church of St Mary Magdalene, high in the Castle District. Entry costs nothing.
About the event
Attila Kondor, Szilárd Cseke and Ábel Péterfy made the work in response to the tower itself, a space close in age to Assisi's medieval holy place. Kondor and Cseke are Munkácsy Prize winners. The thread running through the show is St Francis, who met God in the created world, lived as a brother to nature and rebuilt a ruined church little by little, and whose song of thanks to creation gives the exhibition its title, Brother Sun. What the three painters share is that turn towards nature and a sense of a creating power behind it. Éva Szilléry curates, the art historian János Sturcz opens it, and Tamás Gömör sings and plays guitar.
