Met encore: Bizet's Carmen at the Uránia

Richard Eyre's Metropolitan Opera staging of 2010 comes back to cinema screens as an encore, with Elīna Garanča in the title role and Roberto Alagna as Don José.
About the event
The Uránia takes the recording as part of the Met's twentieth anniversary season of cinema broadcasts, a run of eight live relays alongside three repeats of earlier hits and an anniversary gala. This one was a favourite of the Live in HD series when it first went out, and Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the Met's music director, was at the desk for it. Barbara Frittoli and Mariusz Kwiecien complete the principal cast. It plays in the Díszterem, the Uránia's grand hall. Once it has started, a seat can only be taken on the upper side gallery, and latecomers go in at the interval.
