Magnificat and Messiah at the Opera House

The Opera's own orchestra and chorus pair Bach's Magnificat with Handel's Messiah in Mozart's arrangement. Benjamin Bayl conducts, and the second half is played with projections.
About the event
The Magnificat comes in its original E flat major version, with the extra movements Bach wrote for the Christmas season. Only the best-known numbers of Messiah are performed after the interval, not the whole oratorio. The Opera Chorus sings under its director Gábor Csiki. The singers are Rita Rácz and Andrea Brassói-Jőrös, sopranos, Atala Schöck, alto, Tibor Szappanos, tenor, and Miklós Sebestyén, bass. The texts are in English, German and Latin, with surtitles in Hungarian and English. Two hours with one interval, and the Opera does not recommend it for children under twelve.
