Klaus Mäkelä and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra
Saturday 21 November

Klaus Mäkelä makes his Budapest debut and brings Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra with him. Dvořák's Seventh Symphony before the interval, Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle after it.
About the event
Müpa is producing the concert. Mäkelä is thirty and already one of the most talked-about conductors working, and the Concertgebouw has been away from Müpa for four years. The soloists in Bartók's one-act opera are the Canadian bass-baritone Gerald Finley and the British mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnston. Finley is familiar from the Met's HD broadcasts, and Johnston is appearing in Hungary for the first time. The evening runs a little over two hours with one interval. Sightlines are restricted from the stage gallery, the stage balcony and the first-floor organ seats, which is worth knowing before you choose where to sit.
