Advent with Bach at the Liszt Academy

Five Bach cantatas in one evening, sung by the Purcell Choir and played by the Orfeo Orchestra on period instruments, with György Vashegyi conducting.

About the event

The Haydneum, Hungary's centre for early music, presents this one, and five cantatas and nothing else makes for an unusually single-minded Advent programme.

Before the interval come Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich, Jesus schläft, was soll ich hoffen? and Warum betrübst du dich, mein Herz?. After it, Brich dem Hungrigen dein Brot and Das neugeborne Kindelein. The soloists are Ella Marshall Smith, Bernadett Nagy, Zoltán Megyesi and Christian Immler. Allow about two and a half hours.
