Aranymetszés: painters on the golden section
8 October to 8 November

The painting section of the Hungarian Association of Fine and Applied Artists fills the cellar gallery at Eötvös10 with work shaped by the golden section, as part of the Day of Hungarian Painting.
About the event
The organisers treat the golden ratio as more than a mathematical proportion, calling it one of the oldest searches for harmony, balance and beauty. In painting, they argue, it works less as a rule than as a sensitive ordering principle, sometimes applied deliberately and sometimes arrived at by instinct, and the show looks for the moments where part and whole find each other and a tension appears inside the order. The painter Magda Vágó is the curator. The art historian Ágnes Urbán arranged the hang and another art historian, Tünde Sipos, opens it. The Hungarian Academy of Arts is among the supporters.
