Ferenc Snétberger solo recital at the Liszt Academy

One guitarist alone in the Grand Hall, under the title In the Footsteps of Bach. Expect as much improvising as score.

About the event

Snétberger uses Bach as a floor to push off from, the lute suites above all, and the recital travels from that Baroque logic into the freedom of Roma tradition and whatever else he has picked up along the way. He often walks on with a single sheet of paper, a sketch rather than a score, and builds the evening out from it. There is a plan under the improvising, and none of the playing is there to show off. The Liszt Academy Concert Centre presents it, and the evening runs to about two and a half hours.
