Yulianna Avdeeva and Quatuor Modigliani at the Liszt Academy

Tuesday 3 November

Photo: Liszt Academy

A chamber evening that ends with all five players together on Shostakovich's Piano Quintet. Ravel and Debussy come first, one each.

About the event

Avdeeva won the Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2010, and her playing pairs a formidable technique with a thinker's reading of a score. The Quatuor Modigliani, together since 2003, is Amaury Coeytaux and Loïc Rio on violin, Laurent Marfaing on viola and François Kieffer on cello, heirs to a French line that keeps a full sound transparent. She opens alone with Ravel's Valses nobles et sentimentales and the quartet follows with Debussy's String Quartet in G minor, which is the piece that line was made for. It belongs to the Liszt Academy's Beauty series.
