Anna Netrebko sings Judith in Bluebeard's Castle

The Russian soprano takes on Judith for the first time, in a concert performance of Bartók's Bluebeard's Castle. Liszt fills the first half, with Misi Boros at the piano.

About the event

Müpa is producing this concert itself. Henrik Nánási conducts the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, opening with Liszt's second Hungarian Rhapsody and his First Piano Concerto. Boros has been a crowd favourite here since he won the Virtuózok television contest. After the interval comes Bartók's one-act opera, given in concert rather than staged. Netrebko had already sung Verdi's Requiem in Budapest, the first time she had performed that work anywhere, and this is one of several cities where she debuts as Judith. Alexander Köpeczi, the bass singing Bluebeard, has sung at the Bavarian State Opera, the San Carlo in Naples and the Metropolitan. The evening runs about two and a half hours.
