Andreas Schager's recital at the Opera House
Sunday 15 November

The Austrian Heldentenor sings Schumann's Dichterliebe, songs by Strauss and then Wagner, in the Opera's Stars' Recitals with Piano series. Donka Angatscheva is at the piano and the violinist Lidia Baich joins them.
About the event
Schager began on operetta stages and grew into one of the leading Wagner tenors of his generation, with Siegmund, Siegfried, Tannhäuser and Parsifal behind him and a Bayreuth debut as Erik, and he has been made an Austrian Kammersänger. This is his first appearance at the Budapest Opera House. Baich and Angatscheva play Schubert's Grand Duo sonata and Liszt's Grand Duo Concertant between the song groups, and the Wagner at the end runs from the Evening Star, played on the viola, to the Grail narration, Rienzi's prayer and Winterstürme. The songs are in German, with the texts surtitled in English as well as Hungarian. One interval, and not recommended for children under 12.
