NT Live's Hamlet at the Uránia

The National Theatre's recording of its contemporary Hamlet, with Hiran Abeysekera in the title role. The Uránia screens it in English, with English subtitles.
About the event
Robert Hastie, the National Theatre's deputy artistic director, directs, and the Olivier winner Abeysekera heads the cast. Francesca Mills is Ophelia, Alistair Petrie is Claudius, Geoffrey Streatfeild is Polonius and Ayesha Dharker is Gertrude, with Tessa Wong as Horatio and Tom Glenister as Laertes.
The staging ran at the Lyttelton Theatre in London through the autumn of 2025, and that is where the filming was done. Hastie's other work includes Standing at the Sky's Edge and Operation Mincemeat, while Abeysekera has been in Life of Pi and The Father and the Assassin. The screening lasts about three hours in the Díszterem, the Uránia's grand hall. Students, pensioners and teachers pay a reduced rate.
