Földi Javak craft fair and family day at Vácrátót

The botanical garden's own autumn fair: stalls of plants and homemade food, craft goods made from natural materials, and workshops around the grounds. Vácrátót is about an hour from the city.
About the event
Craft and nature study sessions run through the day, alongside a display of fruits and seeds in the Berkenyeház and a bonsai show upstairs in the Karbonház. Staff from the Hungarian Ornithological Society lead a bird watching walk, the Vácrátóti Menyecskék dance, and students from the Apor Vilmos Catholic College run nature games. The Rátótikum collection brings out its old folk toys. The sixth Természetművészeti Nyitott Műhely opens too, an outdoor show of new work by sculpture students from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, introduced by the sculptor Apolka Erős, with a walk round the pieces with their makers afterwards. The fair goes ahead in the rain, and admission is reduced at the gate.
