The Cleveland Orchestra at Müpa

Franz Welser-Möst brings one of America's finest orchestras to the Liszt Fest, in his last season as its music director. Liszt, Martinů and Brahms in one programme.
About the event
Welser-Möst has led the Cleveland Orchestra since 2002, and the 2026 to 2027 season is his 25th and final year in charge, the longest anyone has held the post. He is the seventh music director, following Christoph von Dohnányi, Lorin Maazel and György Széll, who ran the orchestra from 1946 to 1970.
The concert opens with Liszt's symphonic poem Orpheus. Then comes Martinů's Symphony No. 2, commissioned by the Czech community of Cleveland and first performed by this orchestra. Brahms's Symphony No. 2 in D major follows the interval. Müpa Budapest is producing the evening, which runs for about two hours with one interval.
